CCD Photometry Image Analysis

On 9 August 2007 images were taken of SZ Herculis at the Hopkins Phoenix Observatory. A 12" LX200 FPS F/10 telescope was used with an F/3.3 focal reducer, modified (TEC cooled) DSI Pro camera and UBVRI filters.

The following data are from the AutoStar Envisage Data Logs. The data has been edited and not all the log data is shown. The Magnitude is not valid and is merely referenced to the Comparison Star 2 which was set at magnitude 12.0000. The data of interest are the FWHM, Flux and Max. The FWHM will tales if the aperture and annulus sizes are set correctly. The flux is what we will use to determine he instrumental magnitudes. The Max is a reference to make sure we are in the linear region of the CCD. With the DSI Pro an Gain/Offset set for default values the Max could be up to 65,535 counts. It must be remembered that the brightest star (Program or Comparison) will determine the maximum exposure times.
